Inspired by Jamey Hollingsworth - the HRCR Awareness Fund's mission is to inform and encourage people to take preventative steps against this disease.
In 2022, Jamey Hollingsworth passed away after a brief battle with colorectal cancer. Before passing, Jamey asked his friends and family to take on the challenge of raising awareness for Colorectal Cancer so that less people would have to travel down the path he was on.
Jamey had waited until he was 50 to get a colonoscopy - what he thought he was supposed to do. Despite being an active, healthy adult, he and his family were told that after the first evaluation of his colonoscopy, Jamey had Stage IV colorectal cancer and was given just 12 months to live. He only got 10.
The mission of the Hollingsworth Colorectal Cancer Awareness Fund is to educate as many people as possible about the need for early detection on what is a treatable disease - but has become the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.
The recommended age for screening is 45, don't wait, get screened.
